New playground in Elista, Kalmykia

In May 2017, SFI approved participation in the funding of a playground and rehabilitation area in the heart of Elista, Kalmykia, Russia. The majority of the funds for the project were raised by the BUYN Foundation, a group formed at the Elista Buddhist temple (khurul) to provide assistance to the members of the community most in need. The playground was completed in September 2018. Ron Haak and Darlene Markovich visited the playground in June 2019 and were impressed with the design of the area and the quality of the equipment as well as very pleased to see that it was being enjoyed by many children.
